Praying for the HARVEST

We stand in the gap for the lost:

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Psalms 85:6

“Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.”  Psalms 2:8

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  1Timothy 1:1-4

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-3

God’s Mercy that Leads to Repentance – We pray for mercy and forgiveness and that His mercy will lead many to repentance. We pray for a spirit of repentance like the one that came upon Nineveh.

"Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and restraint and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?" Romans 2:4

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but his longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9

“I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:32

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” Luke 19:10

And the people of Nineveh believed God. They called for a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them.” Jonah 3:5

Spiritual Awakening / Opening the Eyes of those that are Blinded – We desire to see a Spiritual Awakening in our city, to see people who are hungry and thirsty to know God and to follow Him. For people to see their need for God and to begin to seek Him.

“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” 2 Corinthians 4:4

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” Acts 26:18

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:3-4

The Convicting Power of the Holy Spirit– We realize our need of the Holy Spirit at work in us and in our city. We pray that He will fill us, lead us, and empower us as His witnesses. We pray that as only He can do, He will convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment. We pray that the Father will draw the lost to Himself.

“And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:” John 16:8

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:44
